so my school is offering me $41,000 which cuts my cost down to $13,000 per year and I am terrified because my family is not showing any sign of wanting to pay.they said community but the community college does not have my major. i am trying to apply for last minute scholarships (it being late May and all) and i am trying to consider whether or not student loans are worth it and where to look. if anyone can please help me that would be great bc i am having breakdowns from the panic and worry my family is causing me.

Hi, I鈥檓 currently a senior in high school and I鈥檓 not sure what approach would be right for me for student loans. Unfortunately I already filed my FAFSA and I don鈥檛 think I qualify for any aid (even though I am not rich at all) I don鈥檛 have any college savings and my parents have terrible credit. I am 17 as of now and don鈥檛 have any credit score whatsoever. So would I have to take out a private loan ? Or do you think I should try the parent plus one even though my parents don鈥檛 have the best credit ? Honestly I鈥檓 just confused and don鈥檛 know where to start. Thank you !

鈥猈hy doesnt the US government forgive the accumulating interest on all existing college loans (both private & govt) and let borrowers just pay off the original principals on their loans? Obviously our govt has done nothing except create some incipid repayment programs that dont eliminate this burden on our graduates who cant find good paying jobs. Unecessary foreign aid could B diverted 2 help subsidize colleges & universities with tools 2 effectively teach curriculums emphasizing science, technology, or medicine (not fine or liberal arts, social studies, law). College tuitions and professor salaries need 2B capped. All future college loan interest should also B capped permanently @ 2% with no compounding. We need smart, proactive people – they are the antidote to a stupid government.鈥

Do private loans look at your tax info or just credit history? Do you have to put in a new application each year or will they cover all years?

    July 26, 2021 at 12:39 pm

Do a calculation on how much money you would have if you choose not to go to college and work for those four years instead and save every dollar that you earn in those four years and invest it. How much money will you have in 4 years at the time that your friends are graduating college? Now continue the calculation with you adding to that investment for the next 20 years while your college graduate friends are making that same payment to pay off their student loans. At the end of the entire 24 years you will see that the 42 year old college graduate just finished paying off their debt and is now ready to start investing starting with $0 accumulated so far in their life. Meanwhile the 42 year old high school graduate is a very wealthy person.

Heyyyy great video! I have a question. I am looking for a student loan for flight school. I need to pay the 70k$ all at once but was wondering is it possible to apply for a loan that is 80k$ and use the extra 10k$ for personal expenses??? If it is a possibility what loan would you get and if not what do you recommend i do? Thanks

This was so helpful, thanks for making this!! I have a pretty specific question. So I have never gotten involved with loans yet, only grants. However, I am thinking about quitting my job to have more time to myself, focus more on school, and do internships/volunteering. However, this time of year puts me into a tough position because it鈥檚 towards the end of the school year. I鈥檝e of course applied for fafsa since that鈥檚 how I get my grants, but is it too late in the school year to 鈥渞equest鈥 (or whatever it is that you do) a federal loan at this time? Also, what about during the summer? Are federal loans available during the summer? I鈥檓 not quite sure what to do between now and the next school year, and private loans definitely aren鈥檛 an option since they can鈥檛 be deferred.
