Does this Gift of College avenue work for someone who has an outstanding student loan and has been OUT and DONE with college for over a decade? I know this sounds like a stupid question, but is the department of education gonna tell me I can't use the gift card for an old existing loan that originated over a decade or more ago? thx

I love how you called it "heb" instead of H.E.B. No worries, I've heard people call it"heeb", too. But for the record, you say it like you're spelling it out. As always loved the video, Sebby. šŸ™‚ oh, and I just bought a $500 GoC from H.E.B. today. Whoo hoo!

Just curious, but do you know if gift cards purchased at grocery stores are classified under that same merchant code? So using a 3% cash back on groceries card to buy a Gift of College card could net a 2% ROS–?

Could you talk a little bit more about what cards are like after the first year?

Gift of College is a good service. I used them once and sent the payment to an old lender address. It took about a month but the money was returned to me.

You should make a video about IHG Dining Club! I'm always getting notifications of extra IHG points being posted to my account cause they have so many partners in my area…Orange, CA

Sebby, could you do another video on store credit cards, especially the Gap/Banana Republic/Old Navy cards? I am a Gap employee and I always have to push people to sign up for these cards. Iā€™d love to hear from an outside perspective what these cards do/who they are good for/are the benefits worth it?

I am not advising this at all, but this could also be a method to get out of paying student loans. I know two people that put their entire student loan balance on a credit card and then declared bankruptcy. It affected their credit for 7 years but it was shorter than paying 15+ years for the loan itself. Clever, but can put you in a credit hole.
