Brazos Student Loans – Review

Are tattoos allowed in the physical therapy workplace? In physical therapy school?
Is getting a tattoo going to hinder you from getting a job as a physical therapist? Will tattoos take away from building rapport with physical therapy patients?

Tattoos are becoming more and more common in the workplace and even in professional medical fields like physical therapy. You see doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, physical therapists and more emerge with tattoos all around the body.

Getting tattoos in areas like the torso and arms are easy locations to still have tattoos in the physical therapy field since they can be easily covered up. But in locations like the neck, wrist, hands, and face are still slightly frowned upon.

Tattoos are also more accepted/rejected depending on where you live, what setting you work at, what your population is

What are your thoughts? Should physical therapists have tattoos?

I hope i get a response, but I am actually getting a half sleeve on my right forearm with roses and a clock. Would this effect my chances of getting into a DPT program yet alone a clinic? Thank you in advance!

Right now I am a LMT in NY, am in athletic training school, and am considering DPT/ DC school after. I really want to get a tattoo from the dorsum of my hand up to my elbow, but I had the thought of what would happen if I were to go to interviews for DPT school?

What about leg sleeve tattoos ? Can you cover it up easily if you are a guy? Obviously you can wear pants but what if you want to wear shorts or something? Will
It be a bad look ? What do you think ?

Thank you this helps a lot! This is something I've been thinking a lot because I have 2 tattoos and they are in my wrist and below elbow where they are visible. Have always been worried I wouldn't get a job in the future because of them or in PT school.

I’m glad I got this insightful perspective. The outpatient rehab clinic I just interned at had a no tattoo policy so to know that their is places where it is more relaxed gave me some reassurance

Great video. I work in the home health setting in the Bay Area around the Oakland and surrounding areas.

I’ve got both arms fully sleeved and I’ve never had any issues with anyone complaining. You’re right about it varying in acceptance in regards to work environment and place of residence. If I’m meeting a patient for the first time, I’ll usually where a long sleeve or jacket to cover up and after that I can usually tell if someone will be weird about it.

Thanks so much for this!! I was curious about this because I'm planning on going into the PT career field, and I really want tattoos.

Thanks for this video🙏🏽. Just got a half sleeve and was wondering about this topic for a while. I have a lot of Japanese art with a hannya and an Oni with a lion so I might err on the conservative side in the beginning with long sleeves 😂
