## Chapter 11 Investing For Your Future Worksheet Answers – Review

Learn how to make predictions using Simple Linear Regression. To do this you need to use the Linear Regression Function (y = a + bx) where “y” is the dependent variable, “a” is the y intercept, “b” is the slope of the regression line, and “x” is the independent variable.

This video also shows you how to determine the slope (b) of the regression line, and the y intercept (a).

In order to determine the slope of a line you will need to first determine the Pearson Correlation Coefficient – this is described in a separate video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SCg8Kuh0tE).

A very interesting video no doubt and the Irish accent is a great addition, especially if you are going to watch it 7 times, almost one after the other as I did … I understand the importance of the PCC to find relationship between X and y (if any) but when it comes to the slope, why are you not calculating it as the result of SP / SSx, especially when we have those values good and ready?

I had a case where the value of a using the regression line intersection with y axis is different than the value i calculated, why is that?

the excel calculated a of 9949
but the regression line intersection is 12500
