Do you have to pay tax on the collected premium? If that is the case, then the purchased price of the stock is actual higher, somewhere closed to that $80 strike price (assuming you are in the highest tax bracket), then will be less profit overall, correct? Thanks

I am curious, why you pick such long PUT options!? 1 year out seems like an eternity. Yes your return is set and downside covered, Is it really possible to be that disciplined? Just set it and forget it?
In the case of your CVX trade cited, What changes, if any would you consider as we watch the stock climb?

WEll CVX did well directly after your video posted. Then the news tells us that Warren Buffett picked up the stock too,. Obviously, Warren Buffett,Omaha Oracle, is watching the Iowa Icon,Joseph Hogue .

Chevron reported a loss of $665 million during the fourth quarter compared with a loss of $6.6 billion the year before, which included $10.4 billion in impairments. Earnings worsened from a loss of $207 million in the third quarter as downstream and corporate segment losses increased and offset higher profits from the upstream segment

I like the following for dividends: mo, o, ohi, t, vz, sun, et, pru, ibm, dow, iep, gsk, bp, cvx. Usually, I only play index funds not individual stocks.. but these stocks generate cash flow, so I started playing these.

I love your videos and you insight is invaluable, but investing in OIL as Climate Change Worsens every day, is in my opinion, irresponsible.
You use a hole video to explain why it a good thing to do so.
Please make more videos on investing in stocks that will accelerate the future we all want and need.

    July 20, 2021 at 7:11 am

I won't invest any more into planet killing and long subsidized big oil companies any longer. There is more to life than money at all costs. Why not invest in the future that you would want for your children and their children. There are many other lucrative and beneficial companies to put your money into. Same goes for tobacco. Short term profits don't outweigh the negatives to humanity.
Secondly, energy companies are only up because they tanked so bad last year…

what if the call options buyer exercises the options before Jan 2022? Then u don't get the 5% dividends.

Not sure I fully understand or feel comfortable with options trading just yet. If I'm just looking for a good, stable dividend stock, is this a good play w/o using that strategy? thanks, and I appreciate what and how you do what you do!

I have a question, why the covered call is in the money?
Wouldn’t you have to sell the shares at expiration date if CVX is above 80?

  43. Mark Baier
    July 20, 2021 at 7:11 am

Question: If you buy at 91 and sell an 80 call, could someone call your shares at 80 now? They'd make something like 13.75%. What am I missing?

If the buyer of the option you sold for CVX decides to exercise it right away, I’m assuming you don’t receive the dividends correct? Just the 7% gain?

  47. T
    July 20, 2021 at 7:11 am

Are you forced to hold CVX until January 21, 2022? If not are their any consequences if you sell the stock?

Chevron, no way, this is not a good investment- not for 100 grand. You should have left it in TSLA. For some oil exposure I would recommend USA- but not 100 grand of it- ASG has no oil investments- better to have ASG. Everyone thinks Biden will drive oil up, it may go up a little but just a little. oil is a dead end street. The only oil exposure i have is in the little USA I have. Who has 100 grand of one stock unless it is TSLA because they put 15 or 20 grand into it and it grew. Oh I see you are only putting a fraction of 100 grand into CVX- still too much but not as bad. You can get stocks that do covered calls as a business so you do not have to do it yourself. SLVO is an example. I do not think it is worth monkeying around doing that.
