If you can afford a lavish wedding without taking out loans, have that lavish wedding! If you need to take out a loan, then think of what you can cut out of the wedding.

Pretty sure theres a few thousand bankers that should be lined up in the street a shot for bringing about the 2008 housing market crash.

ig im lucky .with only $500 in credit card debt, and then $3,000 collage. and i think all that's a lot and sucks to pay off. oh well that credit card was vacation expenses whoops. (im 20 and have bad spending habits but enough common sense to know i need $0 in debt asap and to not fall behind on payments. covid helps though since some payments are suspended for now.)

my father proved bankers can be stupid, too. he had $150k in certificates of deposit earning 9%, and owed about $50k on the house note at 10%. he asked the bank either refi the house below 9%, or raise his CDs to 11%. bank said No, so he cashed the CDs, paid off the mortgage, and put the rest into the stock market. banker was crying about "losing my father's business blah blah". daddy told all his masonic friends about it, and the banker must have been screwing over a lot of people, as the bank was closed last time i visited. heh.

I once had a friend inquire none too subtly about my credit for a loan. He wanted to get a loan so that he could get private healthcare to test his child for…. AcId rEfLuX!
Fun fact: We live in the UK, where we have free healthcare- he had a free consultation with the NHS doctors and they said that the tests to be 100% sure would be too invasive and the child would be fine even if she did have it. This wasn't good enough for him- so he was begging me to use my credit to get private healthcare so he could get those invasive tests done- just to make sure she didn't have acid relfux, which may I remind you she would be fine even if she did have it.
Yeah, no. You're not fucking my credit for that. Lord above… -_-

Our schools don't teach this sort of essential information in schools. We aren't truly educated when we graduate high school or college. It's a dangerously defective educational system.

Wow, during the first two posts I realized that I understand absolutely nothing about financial terminology. No clue what either was talking about.

I went into Lloyds Bank a few years ago and withdrew £5,000. I was asked why. I wish I'd said it's my money none of your business or it's for coke and hookers. Note: I don't endulge in either.
