I will say that every time I've applied for a credit card. I've received a notification from my Discover identity protection that a new inquiry was made and then a week later I get a new account was created when I signed up for a Citi card. I never received that notification from discover.

I know this is late, but, I was denied a CLI on the AA card. I have both the AA and the Best Buy co-branded cards. I have had the AA for at least 5 years. I have never had a CLI. Yet, I just recently applied for their newest card and received a generous line of credit. I have not received a paper letter advising me why I denied a CLI. Though I have checked the online messages and I do not see the scoring model you are referring to mentioned.

700 score never missed a payment. Had a $10,000.00 limit. I had it up to $7600.00 I paid it off in 3 months. They now have my limit set to $380.00! That really disappointed me. But what really pisses me off is I have never received any amount of my 2% cash back from that $7600.00! So needless to say I cancelled the card and they can go F themselves!

It’s a money game – if you’re the type of person that doesn’t typically Carry a balance & make minimum payments (which is what they really want you to do) they’ll hit you with some bs & slash your limit & then deny your request for & increase

I really thought they were just picking on me..

I had a $7,500 limit that was slashed to $670
For no reason! I’ve never been late, never missed a payment.. & all 3 of my scores are over 700

I think Citi is full of sh!t .. I rarely use my double cash card anymore/ I have my cable bill & phone bill charged to that card & that’s all I use it for … I’ve been denied for a credit increase twice ..

Yep, confusingly clear. Costco/Citi responded to my req for a credit limit increase, initially stating they would not request a credit report from any consumer reporting agency in determining my request then proceeded to tell me my credit score they received from TransUnion was 952 out of a possible 2500 then began to explain all sorts of 'inadequacies and personal failures on my "Credit Report" "Credit Score" that they obtained from TransUnion. My House is paid for, I have no revolving credit, have not initiated or caused a credit check – my truck and car is paid for, have NEVER had a "DELINQUENCY." I'm a 79 yo w/male, 100% Disabled Military Veteran. "Never Had A Bad Debt in my life. Just a 'chicken s*** way to thin the herd. They should as least have the goads or eggs to hire a Financial Planner that could cause a letter to be originated which contained the truth. Absolutely Insulting. Too Much Competition Out There With A More Respectful/Reputable Reputation .

Experian 771 and Citi bank denied me last week. They pulled Experian but their score was way lower, Said I didn't have enough accounts…

    July 27, 2021 at 4:46 am

I was denied a CLI and the denial letter provided a score they claim is from Transunion, in the range of 1-2500. the score calculated for me was 825. 825/2500 doesn't sound especially good! No wonder they denied my credit request.

My Fico8 Bankcard, which they claim to use 'to manage your account' score is 754, from Equifax, according to Citi, but from directly from Experian is currently 778, Fico8 score 763.

Yes, as other's note the reasons for denial had no discernible relationship to what's in my credit file, claiming for example that my most recent delinquency was too recent… but I've never had a delinquency, ever, on any account!

I can't see any reason for the approach taken by Citi with these denial letters other than obscuring the real reason for denial. My leading theory is that they are probably targeting people with income under 50K based on statistical models projecting high unemployment for that demographic. But this is pure speculation on my part.

According to transunion my score is 770 equifax is 754 but I requested an increase on my double cash card and it was denied saying my score was 961 of 2500.

i ask for a credit limit increase on a credit card from citi bank and was not approved just got letter in mail telling me why said i only had credit score of 997 out of 2500 score was to low number 1 reason was using to much credit on total credit amount. okay my total credit limit is $103,250 my credit card balance was $46 bucks at time pulled they are coming up with just plan crap. number 2 reason last time i was 30 days late was to recent never been 30 days late in my 16 years credit history just plan crap again. and said it was from T U model. so they are making this crap up to cut credit limits or not approve limits and to just close your account.

Citi just lowered my limit to $800 on Diamond Preferred, acct holder 4 years. No balance. No use. Score of 800+ on all traditional models. Asked for CLI and got this weird letter saying my score is 988 on this 2500point TU model. The fresh hell is this!? Thanks for the video….and goodbye Citi!

I got re-approved for Double Cash, $3,000 limit. Probably too many recent inquiries, I coasted just above approval. Typically I get 10K+ for personal.

I know pre-covid, when Citi approved me for a credit card, they used Equifax data. I also know out of the 3 credit bureaus my credit score is lower with Transunion for some reason by almost 40 points.

I was approved by Citi with a preselected letter….at first I was a little hesitant because they sent a Diamond 💎 preferred offer but I didn’t choose that option until they sent a preselected offer for the Citi Double cash 💵 back offer so I waited a week later and again they sent another Double cash back offer…At this point, I checked my scores which were in all in the mid 700’s by FICO standards and decided what the heck 😝…to my surprise, was approved for $4000..😳..but I did do some research before I applied especially in knowing the difference between pre-approved & preselected …great vid & info 👍🏾👍🏾

Coincidentally earlier today I tried to move some of my credit limit from one citi card to another citi card and they declined. Apparently citi doesn’t let you move CL’s unlike Chase or BoA. That was frustrating to hear. Definitely will not be obtaining anymore citi cards.

So sounds like don't bother asking citi bank for a credit increase. Cuz the answer will be. No. . I had my cards with them for over 6 years and only got. 1. Credit Increase

I’m glad you made this video! I have also been denied for a credit limit increase twice! I have also received the same letter the other people have received mentioning a score of up to 2500 and listing reasons that have no truth whatsoever haha! I think Citi really tightened up due to this current situation.
