David eats, drinks, and breathes politics. How did he not know if loans are still in forbearance or about the tax provision that passed under the stimulus bill?

If you don't find a means of multiplying money, you will wake up one day to realise that the money you thought you had, has finished. Investment is key.

If we pay off these student loans that don't even belong to us, we will and our children will and so on until the end of the age. Do you really want that? You will be paying out more getting yours paid off, because your taxes dollars will be paying for everyone else's. The government isn't paying it off. The taxpayers will be.

I am sorry but just pay it off. As a conservative the whole idea of not paying for college is crazy. Now I am only 15 but I understand the simple economic rule of nothing is free. If you’re afraid of going into debt THEN DONT GO TO COLLEGE.

Moral Hazard. "I don't want to pay my debt because I want the govt to forgive it"

I've been paying about the minimum payment on my student loans for years, and in that same time, I've earned about 1/4 of my total student loan value in stocks. Do your research and go with what you're conformable with.

Yeah there's no chance student loans get dismissed. Biden beat that position when those dummies on South Carolina didn't vote for Bernie.

we are saving till we know what will happen and then pay off a lump sum before our student loans come out of forbearance. we are first focusing on our bills that carry interest. just paid off my car and credit cards. next is a line of credit, and then it's all saving till we know what will happen.

Shovel as much money as you can towards your loans and get rid of them. I had over 50k in student loans, and the second I paid them off it freed me to do all sorts of things. I didn't have great income coming out of college, and working for a non-profit doesn't exactly net a great salary in most cases. But I made it work.

It'll be a huge relief, and you won't regret it. Don't wait for the government to do anything. A republican could come back into power and simply legislate away any forgiveness. It almost happened under Trump.

You know there are too many people looking for freebies in this life. My advice is pay the debt! You borrowed the money and you owe it nobody owes you a living put on your big-boy pants and pay your debts!

I'm paying, if forgiveness happens great, but I'm not going to wait for it.

People forget that there is interest to be paid on these loans, so the debt forgiveness basically makes it a 0 percent loan.
Any loan over a 20 year period (at 8 percent interest rate I assume) makes it total 2x the loan amount.

So per Biden's plan they will just help you pay off the interest, the messaging from the Biden admin should have been better and we could have avoided all this confusion.

More so, Republicans wouldn't have the chance to say, they are giving stuff for free, since people will still need to pay back the principle amount.

I don't think this is going to happen, if it does then banks will not give out loans for students for the future

I have also been considering this. I have enough money saved to wipe out my student debt, but half of that money is in the market and earning at least enough to offset the loan interest. As long as I think the market is outperforming the interest, I'll prioritize growing my investments over paying down the loans.

Would student loan forgiveness include graduate degree work, do you think? Also, do you think that student loan forgiveness would be for credits that did not lead to a degree? In other words, let's say that someone did not finish or complete their graduate degree, but they are still in forbearance — would that still qualify for student loan forgiveness? Thanks.
