Our Rich Journey – Vanguard’s VTSAX Index Fund: Our Number One Investment for Financial Independence Explained: If you watch our videos, you know that our channel is all about making money, saving money, and investing money. We recently started an investment video series where we invest in individual stocks and track and report our gains/losses each month. Those individual stocks, however, are just a tiny part of overall investment portfolio. In fact, the majority of our investments are in index funds. In this video, we discuss in more detail the specific index fund that we LOVE – the Vanguard VTSAX Index Fund! We describe the VTSAX fund in detail, the five reasons why we love VTSAX, and we even discuss the Charles Schwab and Fidelity equivalents to VTSAX. If you’re new to investing and want to learn about a simple way to get started with investing in the stock market – this video is for you!

Great video butttt…. you might be creating crazy expectations by saying how you went from 10k to 90k in 11 years by investing in VTSAX. Saying smt like "average yearly return of 10% with standard deviation of 15% or smt" is more valuable imo.

I'm a total stock newb. Does it matter if I buy through the vanguard company or just grab vatsax from a low cost us exchange?
Also, with the market like it is, do you suggest:
1 buy in 3000 then a monthly dollar cost averaging or…
    2. Save up 10k for an admiral share and hope the market corrects before then?

    Great video!

Im starting my investing journey . Does this type of investing have a limit on how much you can put in a year? Do you recommend hiring someone to do this for you? Or once you do enough research is it easy enough to set up an account by yourself? I am 26. We sold our first home for a great gain, and we are debt free so I want to do the next step and start investing for myself and children.

If i had to invest in one fund for retirement would this be the one? I am looking for simplicity and a set it and forget it. I saw all kinds of funds like 50/50 or 60/40 lifeycle funds etc. If i had to use just one fund would this be it? Thank you so much! I just want to simplify and start contributing consistently in one fund.

what do you think about VTWAX? vs. VTSAX

  41. Alan Koslowski
    July 27, 2021 at 11:10 am

VTSAX is great but VTWAX is better since it invests in the *entire world*: 55% total US stock market, 45% total non-US stock market. If you want to be a little more conservative, VASGX is great: 50% total US stock market, 30% non-US market, 15% US bonds, 5% non-US bonds.

Hey I’m 19 and started investing recently. I started investing into VUG which is Vanguards Growth ETF because of its high returns. Should I switch to VTSAX? Or since I’m young and can take on the risk, should I stick with VUG? Thanks for the great vids btw!! <3
