USDA Rural Development Loan 2021 Requirements | What You NEED To Know!
Do I Qualify For A USDA Loan?
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides loans to help those living in rural areas buy and improve homes. These loans, known as USDA loans, provide a number of benefits, including no down payment and low interest rates. But before you can take advantage of these benefits, you must first determine if you qualify for a USDA loan.
The primary factor used to determine eligibility for a USDA loan is your income. The USDA looks at your total household income and compares it to the median income for the area. If your income is below the median, you may be eligible. There are also various allowances that can be made for dependents, disabilities, and other factors.
In addition to income, the USDA also considers your credit score when deciding if you qualify for a loan. Generally, a score of 640 or higher is needed for approval. Lower scores may be approved in certain cases, however.
The property you are attempting to purchase must also meet certain requirements in order to qualify for a USDA loan. The property must be located in an eligible rural area, and it must be used as your primary residence. The property must also meet certain safety, habitability, and property standards.
In addition to the requirements above, the USDA will also consider your debt-to-income ratio, payment history, and other financial factors. All of these factors will be taken into consideration when determining if you qualify for a USDA loan.
