Is it better to pay your credit card monthly twice so you could get a better score faster? Like pay half 15 days before payment due and the other half at the end of the mont when the payment is due

I started with a 490 score 17yrs ago. Three years ago I entered the 800 club. This year I did the impossible and hit 850 FICO. It was seriously one of my proudest accomplishments.

Golden Nugget – One thing that people also don't realize is taking out a "personal loan" will hurt your credit score. Many of the banks send out SPAM trying to get you to take out a personal loan. They target individuals that have "decent" credit, but are in debt. They say it will help you consolidate the debt, and you can take advantage of a low interest rate(which is good), and maybe its the best decision for you at that time. The best thing to do is to take advantage of using another credit card as a vehicle, known as a balance transfer.

Even though I was in debt and sometimes I would even loose a little money, by doing a balance transfer, I was still able to save on interest. However, I can ultimately report that I've never taken out a personal loan. That has help preserve my good credit score.

I’ve maintained an 850 through the year but I just checked it and it dropped to 847. I have three major credit cards and a mortgage. I just pay the bills on time and don’t buy a bunch or junk.

For those who are below a 700 credit score, I recommend two secured credit cards. The first and best secured credit card, in my opinion, is the secured card offered by Navy Federal Credit Union. They re-evaluate your account once a month, after 6 months of having the card I believe, to see if you may "graduate" to an unsecured credit card. This will happen automatically, and you will be alerted by an increase of your initial secured deposit amount appearing in your savings' account. The second card that can possibly help your situation, and I would only get this card if you really need another card that is a secured credit card, is the Discover It card. Honorable mentions to make would be secured lines of credit with your local federal credit unions, two lines of credit should be enough, and I'd advise a longer period of time for the secured loans, at minimum one year @ $1,200. It's important to note that you will want to pay the minimum amount each month, or $5 more than the minimum amount, but the goal is to let the payments on the secured line of credit pay off gradually. I made the mistake of paying my secured loans off in half the time, for example: 6 months faster when the loan was for 12 months, and it impacted my credit score negatively. Hope this helps someone!

I'm at 750 right now. Went from 700 june 2018, I hope to hit 800 at the end of the year. So I just opened some more credit cards for more line of credit. I have found studying about credit is really fun. Like a game of chess

In regards to your Debt to Credit ratio, is your ratio for purposes of your credit per card, or overall? (i.e. if I have four cards of 20,000 limit each, and on one I have 10,000 in debt, is the ratio 50% on that single card, or is it 12.5% for the overall?)

I have a 745 with 7 lines of credit open and a 10k car loan, everything paid off on time every time. The only thing holding me back right now is age.

Cool video man, I'm at a 740. Paid off a $6k car and I'm 4/5 through paying off a $9k motorcycle. Perfect payment history, 1% utilization.
If I want to open a new credit card its a -1 to my score, but credit is necessary lol. the irony.

How can you get 15+ years on credit history when loans eventually get paid off and close the accounts? I had nearly 10 years on history, then the loan closed out and now I only have just over 5 years. Even mortgages eventually close out.

Just checked mine, 837, I dunno if I'll ever hit an 850, I don't have many lines of credit, and while I do use my CC sometimes, I pay them off pretty quickly. Oh well I guess I'll have to settle to near perfect.

Would be interested Matthew in whether you would advise completely against asking for a credit limit increase to an account I have currently about 95% to limit utilized but all other credit lines and cards are either completely paid off or between 60-70% utilization ratio. Reason it's at 95% is I took advantage of a 0% offer for six months which planning to pay off in six months time. Thanks Matthew.

I am trying to build credit from scratch. I have been reading up on ways to build quickly and am thinking it would benefit me to open a “secure card” with capital one.

With that being said, the debt to availability is where I am confused. From what I have gathered thus far, you want to have your balance no more than 30% of your limit and pay it off before the monthly statement. Does that mean do not exceed $150 per month with a $500 limit? Or does that mean you can make purchases 30% and lower but pay it off before making any other purchases, which would essentially keep your utilization low while being able to make multiple purchases of up to 30%?

Great information Matthew. I have actually achieved an 850 3 times within the last 4 years and after listening to your video, I have always done everything u talk about related to credit. It’s not as hard as everyone thinks it is. Currently I am sitting at around 825 and I think that is because I recently obtained some new credit.

Matt and his team have helped me tremendously. I was able to achieve 850 on all three credit services after only 8 months of being enrolled in their program. I did recently take a hit when I financed part of the my dream, used, 2015 Starwood Motors Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, but I know I can get it back up quickly by making on-time payments. I'll be able to payoff the loan in less than 6 months thanks to VIPFE showing me how to increase my monthly cash flow by systematically eliminating monthly debts. Thanks for everything, Matt and Jesse!
